Goapele displays every side of her voice on the 2017 Dreamseeker EP [EMPIRE]. The diversity of her work has defined the Oakland-born singer, songwriter, producer, actress, and designer since the start of her career in 2001. Her influence and impact can be felt throughout R&B, soul, and hip-hop. Even Closer, her debut album, 2001, yielded the iconic anthem Closer. To date, it’s impressively racked up over 6 million Spotify streams and been sampled by everyone from Drake to YG. In between touring the world, she has released four full-length albums and collaborated with a diverse array of heavy hitters such as Snoop Dogg, E-40, Eric Benét, Soulive, and Jeff Bhasker. A film and television mainstay, she’s landed high-profile syncs in Sparkle, Honey, 90210, and many more. Recording in Los Angeles and Bay Area studios, she’s worked with longtime friends and collaborators such as producer/keyboardist Mike Tiger, guitarist Errol Cooney, and Bedrock who all contributed to some of her earliest material. Now, the sensual first single Secret introduces Dreamseeker, produced by BedRock and AE. As she continues to evolve as an artist, Goapele further devotes herself to activism, acting, and fashion. She’s partnered with Aids Healthcare Foundation in 2017, launched a lifestyle product line Dreamseeker, and starred in a short film entitled #WhereIsBeauty. In the midst of everything, motherhood remains the highest priority.
Mark Isham is an electronic music innovator, jazz artist and prolific film composer. He traverses the musical landscape with unique performances and imaginative scores. His ability to create unforgettable melodies combined with his willingness to experiment with innovative musical palettes has earned him accolades including: Grammy and Emmy awards, as well as Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. Mark’s inimitable musical voice is evident in his memorable scores for award-winning features including the Oscar-winning Crash, the Oscar nominated score for A River Runs Through It, along with Golden Globe winning Bobby, and The Black Dahlia. For The Black Dahlia, Isham was awarded “Best Score” by the International Film Music Critics Association. This past spring, Mark completed a seven-year run with the hit TV show Once Upon a Time, which has just recently garnered him another Emmy nomination. Mark also completed the score for the hit Marvel show Cloak and Dagger, as well as a lush orchestral score recorded at Warner Bros. for the film Bolden, centered on the life of jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden for director Dan Pritzker. Mark lives in Los Angeles with his wife and four children.
Laura Karpman is a bold and incandescent musical talent, who contributes to numerous critically acclaimed projects including Mosart in the Jungle (Amazon), Inventing Tomorrow (Sundance), The Beguiled (Focus), Paris Can Wait (Sony), Underground (WGN), the re-release of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Cotton Club (Zoetrope), Set It Up (Netflix), Step (Fox Searchlight). With a doctorate from Juilliard, Laura’s concert and theater music includes the Grammy award-winning multimedia opera Ask Your Mama, commissioned by Carnegie Hall for Jessye Norman and The Roots, Wilde Tales, for the Glimmerglass Festival, Balls, an opera collaboration with New York Times columnist Gail Collins, and Brass Ceiling, commissioned by The U.S. Army Band, set to premiere in 2018. Her new musical, a collaboration with Sa Ding-Ding and Adrian Noble, will open in China in 2018. Laura’s stunning scores have garnered four Emmy Awards, eight additional nominations, the Critic’s Choice Award, the BMI Champion Award, two HMMA Awards, two GANG Awards, and an Annie nomination for Best Music in an Animated Feature. In addition to making music, Laura is a committed advocate and mentor. She serves as an advisor for the Sundance Film Scoring Labs, is on the faculty of the USC Film Scoring Program, and is the founding President of the Alliance for Women Film Composers. She is proud to be the first female governor of the music branch at the Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences, where she is currently serving her first term.
Mary Ramos has been a film music supervisor for over 20 years, creatively helping directors find the best songs and scores for their films. She has helped shape the music for blockbuster features, fierce independents and passionate documentaries. Along with Grammy nominated soundtracks and a Guild of Music Supervisors Award for Django Unchained, she worked with Quentin Tarantino on The Hateful Eight which brought Ennio Morricone his first Academy Award for Best Original Score, she also worked with Howard Shore on Tom McCarthy’s film Spotlight which won the Oscar for Best Picture, and she worked with Reginald Hudlin on his film Marshall for which the powerful original theme song entitled Stand Up For Something was nominated for a 2018 Academy Award.
Del Spiva is an award winning music editor who began his musical editing career with Hans Zimmer, and also worked with Ridley Scott on many films including American Gangster and Prometheus. His first thoughts of working with music in film came while he was a trombonist in his high school jazz and marching bands— though back then, he had no idea what a music editor even was! Fast forward, and Del’s latest works have included the Deadpool 2, The Defiant Ones and A Quiet Place, as well as the upcoming The Hate U Give.
Angela Jollivette launched Moonbaby Media, a Music Supervision & Content Production firm for Visual Media in 2017, after a decade tenure with The Recording Academy, GRAMMY Awards Department overseeing World Music, Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music and TV/Film Music. The success of overseeing the music and soundtrack for the OWN Network/Lionsgate TV's, faith-based series, Greenleaf, has proven her departure from the Recording Academy was the right move. Angela is now a two-time Award Winner, NAACP and Stellar Awards Winning Music Supervisor and Soundtrack Album Producer for the Greenleaf soundtrack. Angela’s wealth of expertise musically and professionally lies beyond the Gospel genre and she is now tapping into her next TV/Film music projects with great momentum behind her.
