ACADEMY BOARD OF GOVERNORS 2020-2021 OFFICERS ELECTED


Casting director David Rubin was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today by the organization’s Board of Governors.

Also elected to officer positions by the Board:

ACADEMY RECLASSIFIES AGENTS FROM ASSOCIATES TO MEMBERS-AT-LARGE CATEGORY WITH VOTING PRIVILEGES

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors voted to reclassify the membership status of Artists’ Representatives (agents) from Associates to Members-at-Large.  As Members-at-Large, agents will now have voting privileges.

The Academy is comprised of 17 branches, for the crafts ranging from Actors to Writers, and two membership status categories, Members-at-Large and Associates, to accommodate individuals whose work in the motion picture industry is not specific to one of the branches.

THE ACADEMY FOUNDATION’S GRANTS PROGRAM
TO RECEIVE $2 MILLION EACH

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today a $6 million donation that will help support motion picture employees and their families facing severe financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with institutions focused on supporting diverse filmmakers.
